INTRODUCTION
- Owing to the “lock down” caused by the Chorona virus 19 pandemic and restrictions in travel, our proposed cycle tour to Tewkesbury was cancelled. With the limits of rides only for excercise in England and virtual house arrest in Wales it is amazing how many photographs have been submitted.

Derek Everton and Allan Preston planned to do a 75mile ride to Ashbourne (the location of the 2014 Mayfest) but it didn’t work out as planned…
It was a wonderful bright sunny day but they got off to a late start arranging to meet at Hixon at 10.30am this was further delayed by Allan train spotting at Shugborough tunnel waiting too long for a southbound Pendolino to emerge from the tunnel, then stopping to photo his bike on Essex bridge. They finally met at 10.50am.
After Allan making apologies for the late Pendolino it was decided to make the destination Rocester (JCB land) and the ride started with the first stop after only 1 mile to pay respects to the 11 passengers and railway men who had died in the Hixon Level Crossing Rail Disaster of 1968.
Then pushing on towards Uttoxeter a COV-19 building worker came into view. Social distancing was dropped for the photo as the likelihood of being infected was zero.
With time marching on the duo proceeded at high speed until crossing over the A50 bridge nr Bramshall. To their left was the “JCB Heavy Products” factory and to their right the “JCB World Parts” factory. Two enormous sites well worth the photo stop.
