1957 – Rome

Saturday 17th August – Sunday 8th September

To celebrate the Silver Jubilee of St. Christopher’s Catholic Cycling Club and the completion of my quarter of a century’s work for the Club, it is proposed to carry out a tour to Rome, taking in France, Switzerland and Italy. A Spiritual Bouquet offered by all the members of the Club will be carried, together with a letter from his Grace Archbishop Grimshaw and His Worship the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, to the Holy Father. Our new President, His Lordship Bishop Bright has granted us the honour of agreeing to say a Mass for us and give us a send off. He has also arranged for us the privilege of a private audience with the Holy Father. Mr. A. T. Flynn, K.S.G., who has watched over the Club during the past twenty five years has once again placed the lovely chapel and grounds at our service for the start of the Jubilee Ride. No effort has been spared to make this tour an outstanding success though you will agree that the final verdict depends entirely on the friendly cooperation of all the participants. This I know I can rely upon. Carl D. Ehrenzeller
